21 SETTEMBRE 2007 NOW AVAILABLE IN HONG KONG AND MACAU
The idea of creating 21 Settembre started with the desire to use a different grape variety to produce a white wine reminiscent of the great wines of Alsace and Mosel regions. Instead of using Riesling or Traminer, the typical grapes of those regions, Luca Abrate the enologist of the Luca Abrate winery, chose Arneis the quintessential white grape of Piedmont Italy, the home of our winery.
The result is a wine with great structure and intense mineral notes. To read more about technical data on the wine please download the file Abrate wines.
It is produced using a very labor-intensive technique, starting already in the vineyards. Here, before the harvesting, each vine-shoot supporting the grapes is cut from the main trunk, but is left together with the grapes on the vine. This allows the grapes to partially resin and increase the concentration of their sugar, while no longer receiving any water from the roots.
21 Settembre is dedicated to the birth of Luca Abrate's daughter who was born on 21 September 2006.
21 Settembre was first produced in 2006 with a very small production of 4,000 bottles and 500 magnums.
The whole production was sold out within a few months from the time its launch.
The 2007 vintage, which is still currently available, has a slightly larger production quantity of 7,500 bottles and 1,200 magnums.
Although 21 Settembre has become very popular in Italy, due to the production requirement, it is not possible to make large quantities of this wine. That is why we at Abrate & Sons Hong Kong are very proud, for the first time to be able to make available a limited quantity of the 21 Settembre, vintage 2007 in Hong Kong and Macau.
We are launching the wine with an advertisement campaign that is coming out today on a full page of the South China Morning Post City section and will appear again on the 3rd September on the SCMP Golf and Resort magazine and on the 3rd of October on the SCMP Style magazine.
